Drowning Worms

Over the 4th of July holiday, our family joined two other families and spent the weekend in Island Park. Even though everyone else had the same idea, it was still nice to get away from it all. It takes a little over two hours to get to I.P. from Pocatello and the traffic wasn't bad.
On Friday, the three families went to the firework show at a lodge on the edge of Henry's Lake. That was about as close as I have ever been to exploding fireworks.
On Saturday, we went fishing on the Buffalo River which is a really nice way to spend the afternoon. We had the river all to ourselves for the first few minutes, and then groups of other people began showing up. But there is enough river for everyone. We pulled out lots of Brook Trout. I caught six, Garrett caught four and Olivia caught a tree branch. Saturday ended with a S'mores-fest around the campfire.
Sunday started with a nice big outdoors breakfast with fish, sourdough pancakes, bacon and eggs. That was followed by a camp clean-up and a slow drive home.
